Have you ever looked up at the stars in the night sky and ‘oohhh’d’ or ‘aaahhh’d’ in admiration? I bet you have, as stars are one of the wonders in our universe. They’re so far away yet still capture our attention and imagination. We have named them, grouped them, sought to understand their composition and how far away they are. We refer to people who are very well known or famous after them. We have even sought to define people’s personalities or character after them. Stars have profoundly impacted our lives yet the ask us for nothing, least of all permission. Stars just do their thing, they shine. I think we can learn a lot from stars.
Now, I’m by no means an a star specialist but I am most intrigued by stars so have studied a bit about them it was this study that taught me, (or may be reminded me if I learnt this in school), that the sun is in fact a star. The sun is the centre of our universe so we can see that stars have an even greater impact on our lives than we probably thought. Imagine if the sun thought it was like other stars. Imagine what would happen if the sun thought that it needed darkness to shine. Our world would be a complete mess. So some key learnings from all stars is that first you need to know who you are, then what you’re to do. From being, flows purpose.
The stars don’t need permission to shine and neither do you. They don’t ask for permission and neither should you. Allow who you are and what you have to shine, because like the star it’s what you were born to do. And if you’re gonna shine, shine out. Like stars, there is a light within each of us so our job is to let that light shine out. Get that sorted and then it’s just a matter of time before your shining as powerfully as the stars and impacting the lives of others they way the stars impact ours.
The reality is, we and our purpose are far more complex than stars. It takes a lot more to know who we are and what we have in order to shine. So how do we shine out? There are 8 steps I’ll share with you called the Shine Out method.
1) Self-acceptance is the ability to embrace all of yourself.
2) Self-concept is what and how we think about or perceive yourself.
3) Self-regard is the feeling of being worthy of esteem or respect.
4) Self-confidence is a belief in yourself, our gifts, ability, talents and skills (GATS).
5) Self-love is an unconditional sense of support and caring for yourself.
6) Self-attunement is to bring yourself into harmony.
7) Self-communication is the exchange of information with and about yourself.
8) Self-presentation is the image or view we hold of yourself and project to others.
The steps of the Shine Out Method take you on a journey allowing who you are and what you have to shine like a star or shine out. To shine out means to excel, and to excel means to be superior at achieving your goals and dreams. Over the coming weeks, I’ll take you through each step of the Shine Out method so you are clear on how these steps empower you to excel.
Until then, take care
